MONDAY, August 2:

Iran: The second meeting of Iranian expatriates starts in Tehran (to August 3).


Iran/Pakistan: 18th meeting of Iran-Pakistan Joint Economic Commission opens in Islamabad (to August 3).

Pakistan: Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visits France.

UN: United Nations climate change conference begins in Bonn, Germany.

UN: 77th session of UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination opens in Geneva, Switzerland (to August 27).



TUESDAY, August 3:


Moldova: Moldovan Constitutional Court decides whether former Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin can run for president again.

Pakistan: Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visits U.K. (to August 8).

Russia: Soviet-era dissident writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn died two years ago today.
