THURSDAY, January 20:
Azerbaijan: Anniversary of Black January events of 1990, in which Soviet troops opened fire on demonstrators in Baku.
Iran/Russia: Iran’s permanent envoy to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh is scheduled to travel to Moscow (to January 21).
FRIDAY, January 21:
Afghanistan/Russia: Afghan President Hamid Karzai visits Moscow at the invitation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Iran: Nuclear talks between the Iranian government and world powers (Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States, and Germany) to resume in Istanbul (to January 22).
