MONDAY, October 10:

EU: The EU Foreign Affairs Council to discuss the situations in Belarus and Iran.

Georgia/Czech Republic: Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili visits Prague to attend the ‎Forum 2000 conference.

Iran: Iranian Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi visits Kuwait to participate in the 10th session of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue.

Kosovo: Kosovar President Atifete Jahjaga attends the ‎Forum 2000 conference in Prague.

OSCE: The 2011 OSCE Mediterranean Conference opens in Budva, Montenegro.

Russia/Germany: The fourth German-Russian Dialogue Baden-Baden meeting opens in Germany (to October 16).

Russia: U.S. Assistant Secretary Michael Posner travels to Moscow, Nizhniy Novgorod, and Kazan to discuss a wide range of human rights and democracy issues (to October 15).

WHO: World Mental Health Day.

World: 2011 Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences to be announced in Stockholm.

World: World Day Against the Death Penalty.


TUESDAY, October 11:

Azerbaijan/Austria: Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer pays an official visit to Baku.

EU: The European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee to discuss the situations in Georgia and Ukraine.

Russia/China: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits Beijing to attend the 16th regular meeting of the two countries' premiers (to October 12).

Ukraine: The trial of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to resume in Kyiv.

U.S./Russia: Jury trial begins for suspected Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout in New York.


WEDNESDAY, October 12:

Azerbaijan/Turkey: Turkish Defense Minister Ismet Yılmaz visits Baku.

EU: The European Commission to announce its annual overview of enlargement strategy and progress made toward EU accession in the Western Balkans, Turkey, and Iceland.

EU/Russia: The EU-Russia aviation summit starts in St. Petersburg (to October 13).

Russia: Russian opposition plans to hold a rally to mark Day of Wrath in Moscow.

Turkmenistan: Chatham House in London hosts a discussion on Turkmenistan's domestic and foreign policies.

UN: International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction.

World: The biggest book and media fair in the world, Frankfurt Book Fair 2011, begins in Germany (to October 16).


THURSDAY, October 13:

OSCE: First OSCE Southeast Europe Media Conference opens in Sarajevo (to October 14).

Armenia/CIS: Yerevan hosts the CIS Interior Ministers’ Council meeting.

Turkmenistan/Austria: Austrian Federal President Heinz Fischer is scheduled to visit Ashgabat.


SUNDAY, October 16:

World: World Food Day.
