The Week Ahead is a detailed listing of key events of the coming week affecting RFE/RL's broadcast region.


MONDAY, March 28:

Balkans: Serbia and Kosovo delegations meet for the second round of talks in Brussels.

EU/Russia: Civil society actors from across Europe and Russia gather in Prague, Czech Republic, for a founding meeting of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum.

Georgia: A Bulgarian delegation headed by parliament speaker Tsetska Tsacheva starts an official visit to Tbilisi.

Iraq: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan visits Baghdad, meets with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki (to March 29).

Kyrgyzstan: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets his Kyrgyz counterpart Ruslan Kazakbaev in Moscow.

Moldova/Russia: Moldovan Foreign Minister Yury Lyanke visits Moscow.

Pakistan/India: Officials from India and Pakistan meet in New Delhi to restart long defunct normalization talks (to March 29).

Russia/U.S.: Delegations from Russia and the United States meet in Geneva to coordinate and discuss technical issues related to the implementation of the New START Treaty.


TUESDAY, March 29:

Moldova: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk visits Chisinau, meets with Moldovan President Vlad Filat (to March 30).

Russia: Moscow hosts a meeting of customs officials from CIS countries.

Serbia: EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule visits Belgrade to meet with top officials.


WEDNESDAY, March 30:

Russia/U.K.: The winners of "The Man Who Changed The World" award to be announced in London, during a charitable concert dedicated to Mikhail Gorbachev's 80th anniversary.


THURSDAY, March 31:

Russia: The Russian opposition holds its regular Strategy 31 rally in Moscow and other cities.

Serbia: Finnish President Tarja Halonen visits Belgrade, meets with Serbia's President Boris Tadic and Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic (April 1).


FRIDAY, April 1:

Azerbaijan: Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt pays an official visit to Baku.

Belarus/Russia: Vehicle control to be abolished on the Russian-Belarusian border.


SATURDAY, April 2:

Azerbaijan: The Azerbaijani opposition plans to hold a rally.

World: International Istanbul Film Festival starts.

World: World Autism Awareness Day.


SUNDAY, April 3:

Kazakhstan: Presidential election.
