Strong earthquakes have hit Central Asia, but no casualties or damages have been reported so far.
The Geological Control Committee at Kazakhstan's Education Ministry said a June 27 earthquake near the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan had a magnitude of 5.3.
The earthquake was felt in Kazakhstan's southern cities of Almaty, Shymkent, and Taraz.
The Kazakh agency said that about a dozen aftershocks were registered across the region.
That earthquake was registered a day after a stronger earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 hit southern Kyrgyzstan.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the epicenter of the June 26 earthquake was 122 kilometers south of the Kyrgyz city of Osh, close to the Tajik border.
An earthquake with a magnitude over 6 is capable of causing severe damage.
