China Holds National Mourning For Coronavirus Victims
The national flag flew at half-staff throughout China on April 4, and all forms of entertainment were suspended. The country observed three minutes of silence. Cars, trains, and ships sounded their horns. In Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, all traffic lights in urban areas turned red at 10 a.m. and all road traffic ceased for three minutes. China claims around 3,300 of its people have died in the pandemic, but U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly say Beijing has lied about the number of infections and hidden the country's true, higher death toll.
