Croatian police said today prosecutors have issued an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, who is being investigated for corruption.

Sanader left the country shortly before parliament on December 9 lifted his immunity from prosecution.

Prosecutors say Sanader is suspected of abuse of office during his time as prime minister.

Sanader led the government and the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) from 2003 until he quit in a surprise announcement in 2009.
