Russian authorities say the death toll from an explosion and fire at an explosives plant has risen to five people.

The Emergency Situations Ministry branch in the Nizhny Novgorod region said on September 3 that the bodies of two missing workers at the Sverdlov plant were found under debris after the August 31 explosion and fire, which caused the wall of one of the plant's buildings to partially collapse.

Local authorities in the city of Dzerzhinsk on August 31 confirmed the deaths of three workers and said three others were missing at the facility, which produces explosives for the Defense Ministry, the mining industry, and for oil and natural-gas operations.

On September 3, authorities said four people were hospitalized, including a woman who was in serious condition with severe burns.
