Egypt's interim prime minister has condemned a deadly shooting outside a Coptic Christian church in Cairo.

In a statement issued on October 21, Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi called the attack, which occurred on the previous night, a "callous and criminal act."

He added that such attacks will "not succeed in sowing divisions between the nation's Muslims and Christians."

The assault killed three people, including an 8-year-old girl.

At least nine others were wounded in the shooting.

The gunmen targeted a group of people emerging from the church following a wedding.

A police spokesman said there were two assailants who fired from a passing motorcycle.

Attacks against Egypt's Coptic Christian minority have increased since the July ouster of Islamist president Mohammad Morsi by the military.
