Egyptian Diplomats, Staff Freed In Libya

Six Egyptian diplomats and embassy staff members kidnapped in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, have been released.

Officials in Libya and Egypt offered no details of their release late on January 26.

Five Egyptian diplomats and an embassy staff member were kidnapped late on January 24 and early on January 25.

It was not clear who abducted them.

The kidnapping followed the arrest of a senior Libyan militia leader in Egypt.

On January 25, kidnappers called Dubai-based Arab channel Al Arabiya, demanding the release in 24 hours of Shaban Hadia, commander of the Operations Room of Libya's Revolutionaries, a powerful militia in Libya.

The militia denied any involvement in the kidnappings.
