France has beaten Lithuania to win its first European basketball championship.
The French, led by NBA star Tony Parker, outpaced the Lithuanians 80-66 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to claim the 2013 EuroBasket title.
Nicolas Batum, who plays for the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, led the French with 17 points, while Boris Diaw tossed in 15 points and Parker added 12 points.
The result was a vindication for the French squad, which lost to Spain in the 2011 final.
Earlier on September 22, Spain won the bronze medal with a 92-66 rout of Croatia.
