Four U.S. Men Charged in Alleged Terror Plot

The FBI says four Americans have been charged with plotting to join the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and conduct "violent jihad."

An FBI statement late on November 19 said the three of the four had undertaken preliminary training at firearms and paintball centers in southern California.

The charges include "conspiracy to kill, kidnap, maim, or injure persons and damage property in a foreign country."

The men have also been charged with plotting to kill U.S. soldiers and American citizens. Online conversations by some of the men were included in the evidence against them.

The four suspects, Ralph Deleon, Miguel Alejandro, Santana Vidriales, and Arifeen David Gojali, were arrested on November 16 and appeared in court outside Los Angeles three days later.

A fifth suspect, Sohiel Omar Kabir, is in custody in Afghanistan.

If convicted, they face up to 15 years in prison.
