Israeli air strikes have pounded Gaza for a second day, in the worst violence in the region for almost a year.
Palestinian sources said at least 15 militants had been killed in the two days of fighting.
Despite Egyptian efforts to mediate a cease-fire, Palestinians fired more than 100 rockets, some striking major cities in southern Israel and seriously wounding an Israeli civilian.
The United States condemned the rocket attacks, calling them "cowardly", while the Arab League called the Israeli air strikes "a massacre."
