Helmut Kohl, Father Of German Reunification, Dies At 87

Former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl died on June 16 at his home in Ludwigshafen. He was 87. Kohl pushed through German reunification after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the collapse of the communist government in East Germany. He was also a driving force behind the creation of the euro during a 16-year reign that spanned the tumultuous final decades of the 20th century. (Reuters)
