Iran Sees Nuclear Deal Implementation By End Of Week

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqhchi has said a nuclear agreement agreed between Tehran and world powers may be implemented by the end of the week.

Under the nuclear deal reached with six world powers in July, Tehran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.

Iran's media quoted Araqhchi as saying on January 13 that the International Atomic Energy Agency is expected to give the go-ahead for the deal on January 15 and that an announcement about implementation would be made by January 17.

There was no immediate confirmation from the IAEA of Araqhchi's comments, but U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said last week that the deal may be "days away from implementation, if all goes well."

The move would trigger sanctions relief for the Islamic republic that will unlock billions of dollars in frozen accounts and pave the way for a surge in oil exports.
