Iraqi Forces Clash With Islamic State Fighters Near Mosul

Iraqi forces on December 7 launched an attack to capture the village of Ganous, about 70 kilometers south of the city of Mosul. The troops are seen celebrating an apparent victory after they traded heavy fire with militants. It was the latest clash in Iraqi forces' nearly two-month offensive to recapture Mosul, which has been under the control of Islamic State militants since 2014. (Reuters)
