Israel Gets Peace-Talks Letter From Palestinians

A letter detailing Palestinian Authority President Mahmud Abbas's demands for restarting peace talks has reportedly been delivered to the Israeli government.

Palestinian officials gave the document to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a meeting in Jerusalem.

A statement issued after the meeting said both sides were “committed to reaching peace" and that Israel will reply to the letter within two weeks.

Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad earlier pulled out of the meeting.

Talks on a two-state solution broke down in late 2010 after Israel rejected a Palestinian demand to extend a partial freeze on settler building in occupied Palestinian territory.
