Kosovar Opposition Lawmaker Arrested Over Parliament Violence

Kosovar police have arrested an opposition lawmaker amid a deepening political crisis over relations with neighboring Serbia.

Donika Kadaj-Bujupi was arrested on November 18 and arrest warrants were issued for three fellow lawmakers who have taken part in violence that has disrupted parliamentary sessions for weeks.

On November 17, opposition lawmakers fired tear gas and pepper spray inside parliament to protest a European Union-brokered deal regulating ties between Serbia and Kosovo, its former southern province which declared independence in 2008.

Also on November 18, bomb disposal experts detonated a hand grenade had been thrown into the constitutional court's complex in Pristina.

No one was hurt in the controlled explosion.

The court has been asked to rule on the accord with Serbia.
