WASHINGTON -- Hashim Thaci, the prime minister of Kosovo, says that Serbia continues to lie to Serbs living in the north of Kosovo about the possibility of a partition.
Speaking at a Washington think tank, Thaci said Serbs need investments and social programs and not “old messages that hold them hostage."
A partition of Kosovo will never happen, he said, and called on Serbia to start acting in a “civilized” manner toward Kosovo.
Responding to a question about further recognition of Kosovo, Thaci said that Brussels should do more to push the five remaining EU members who have not recognized Kosovo to do so.
Currently, 89 countries have recognized the independence of Kosovo.
The five EU members who have not are Greece, Slovakia, Cyprus, Romania, and Spain.
