Violent Clashes Break Out After Kyrgyz Elections

Violent clashes between security forces and people angry over the results of parliamentary elections erupted after a large protest in Bishkek on October 5 calling for the annulment of the election results.

Police used water cannons, rubber bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades to disperse the crowd. Anti-government protesters stormed the Kyrgyz presidential office building, known as the White House.
