9 Killed When Logging Truck, Van Collide in NW Russia


Police say nine people were killed and three injured when a logging truck collided head-on with van in the Vyborg district of Russia's Leningrad region.

Preliminary findings indicate that nine people in the van were killed on the spot, authorities say.

The truck driver and two other people in the van were injured.

Police have opened an investigation into the causes of the accident.

Initial reports from traffic authorities suggested the van had crossed into the oncoming haulier.
