Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafza has signed a deal with Apple TV+ to produce dramas and documentaries that focus on women and children.

Apple TV on March 9 said the Pakistani activist, who won the Nobel Peace Prize as a teenager after surviving a Taliban assassination attempt, had agreed to a multiyear partnership that would "draw on her ability to inspire people around the world."

It said programming would also include animation and children's series.

The 23-year-old Malala said she was "grateful for the opportunity to support women, young people, writers, and artists in reflecting the world as they see it."

"I hope that through this partnership, I will be able to bring new voices to this platform, to this stage," Malala told Reuters. "I hope that through me, more young people and girls will watch these shows, get inspired.”

Malala, then 15 years old, was shot in the head on her school bus by Taliban gunmen in 2012 because she campaigned for the education of girls, which the militant extremist group opposes.

She recovered after months of treatment at home and abroad and was awarded the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for her campaign supporting the education of girls.

Malala graduated from Britain's Oxford University in 2020 and has since created a digital publication for girls and women and formed her own TV production company.
