Moldova's parliament begins its spring session amid a political crisis.

The parliament declined on February 14 to accept speaker Marian Lupu's proposal to postpone the gathering.

Lupu's proposal came one day after Prime Minister Vlad Filat said his Liberal Democratic Party would no longer adhere to a coalition deal with its partners, the Liberal Party and the Democratic Party.

A number of key issues are on the parliament's agenda.

Major debates are expected around the former prosecutor-general's involvement in the death of a businessman on a hunting trip and the accusations of a cover up.

There is also the investigation of a Moldovan bank allegedly involved in a money-laundering scheme linked to the Russian tax fraud case exposed by Russian anticorruption lawyer Sergei Magnitsky.
