Moldova Fined By UEFA For Crowd Disturbances


Moldova's football association has been fined 15,000 euros ($16,600) by Europe's soccer governing body, UEFA, for crowd disturbances during thecountry's Euro 2016 qualifying game against Russia earlier this month.

In a statement on October 23, UEFA said Moldova would also have to close part of their ground for their next European match after flares were fired and racist flags displayed during the 2-1 loss on October 9.

Moldova finished their qualification campaign bottom of Group G with two points. Russia qualified for the European Championship in France after finishing second.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
