Morsi Supporters Set Up Third Protest Camp

Supporters of Egypt's deposed president, Muhammad Morsi, gather during their open sit-in outside Rabaa al-Adawiya Mosque in Cairo on August 1.
Supporters of ousted Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi have established a third protest camp in Cairo in defiance of police orders to clear existing encampments.

The protesters began their new camp at a location near Cairo airport on August 2.

The same day, police fired tear gas as protesters tried to storm Media City, a complex on the outskirts of Cairo housing television broadcasters.

That came after Islamists marched from mosques following noon prayers to reinforce a protest camp in Rabaa al-Adawiya, where thousands of Morsi's backers have camped for weeks since Morsi was deposed by the military on July 3.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry said U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns was visiting Cairo and would hold talks with Egypt's interim foreign minister, Nabil Fahmy, on August 3.
