Russia's war against Ukraine will not end anytime soon, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated in an interview published on September 17 with the German Funke Mediengruppe newspaper group. Stoltenberg noted that all countries of the military alliance want peace to come as quickly as possible, but if Ukraine stops fighting, then it will disappear as a country. “We must admit that if President [Volodymyr Zelenskiy] and the Ukrainians stop fighting, their country will no longer exist. If President Vladimir Putin and Russia lay down their arms, we will have peace,” Stoltenberg emphasized, noting that Ukraine will ultimately join NATO.
