The International Olympic Committee remembered Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili on February 5 with a one-minute moment of silence at the beginning of the IOC's General Assembly near Sochi.
Kumaritashvili died while training hours before the opening ceremony for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
Kumaritashvili, 21, flew off the luge track at high speed and slammed into a metal pole.
No formal remembrance by athletes for him has been planned at the Sochi Olympics, although the International Luge Federation will hold a private ceremony on February 12 -- the four-year anniversary of his death.
IOC President Thomas Bach said that "none of us will be able to forget the tragic death" of Nodar Kumaritashvili.
