Twin Pakistan Blasts Kill Four

Twin bomb explosions in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi have killed four people and injured nine others.

Officials on January 24 said that both bombs were planted in a garbage dump in the impoverished neighborhood of Sherpao Colony.

Hashim Raza Zaidi, a senior administrative official told the AFP news agency that the dead included three police officers while three more were injured.

The officers had responded to a report of a bomb blast in a garbage bin.

They were killed by a second blast while they inspected the site.

Last year some 2,000 people were killed in Karachi.

Violence in the commercial hub of 18 million is linked to ethnic and political tensions.
