Russia's ambassador to Pakistan says Islamabad is negotiating with Moscow on the purchase of an unspecified number of Russian MI-35 military helicopters.

Alexey Dedov was speaking to reporters in Islamabad on June 10.

Dedov said Russia is eager to deepen wide-ranging bilateral ties with Pakistan.

Dedov also informed reporters that a top Pakistani diplomat, Sartaj Aziz, would be attending a regional security conference in the Russian city of Kazan later this month.

During the visit, Aziz, an adviser on national security and foreign affairs, is also expected to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Dedov said.
