Pakistani Mob Burns Hindu Temple, Center

In Pakistan, a mob has set fire to a Hindu temple and community center in reaction to allegations that a Hindu man desecrated a copy of the Koran, the Islamic holy book.

The arson occurred late on March 15 in Larkana, in the southern province of Sindh.

Reports said police took the Hindu into protective custody, and no casualties were reported.

Fire damage was reported to both the temple and the community center, which are located next to each other.

The incident occurred after some residents said they had seen burned Koran pages in a garbage bin.

Elsewhere in Sindh, police are reported to have quelled other protests targeting Hindus.

Mostly Sunni Islamic Pakistan has seen numerous incidents of violence triggered by allegations of Koran desecration or other perceived violations of Pakistan's blashemy laws.
