Pakistani Gunmen Kill Police Officer, Driver

Gunmen on motorcycles have shot dead a top police officer and his driver in northwest Pakistan.

Police say Amanullah Khan, who worked in the traffic department, and his driver were killed on June 24 in Peshawar, the capital of the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but Pakistani militants routinely target government security forces in Pakistan.

On June 19, five army soldiers were reported killed and two others wounded in an attack on their military convoy on the outskirts of Peshawar.

Based on reporting by AFP, AP, and RFE/RL's Radio Mashaal

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
