At least six people have been killed and more than 40 injured during an antigovernment rally in the Pakistani city of Multan.
Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan addressed the rally in Multan on October 10, pressing his demand for Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Shari to resign.
The stampede occurred as people were leaving a stadium where the event was being held.
Local medical officials said at least 42 people had been taken to the hospital.
Khan and cleric Tahir ul-Qadri led a weekslong protest in Islamabad in August and September demanding that Sharif leave office.
Both say Sharif rigged the 2013 election that brought him to power.
