PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- Prominent Taliban commander Mullah Muhammad Nazir has reportedly been wounded in a suicide bombing in northwest Pakistan.
Security officials say the attack took place in Wana, the main town of South Waziristan, near the Afghan border.
Intelligence sources tell RFE/RL's Radio Mashaal that the bombing killed at least six people and injured 10 others.
It remains unclear who was behind the attack or the extent of Nazir's wounds.
Nazir is considered to be a pro-Pakistani government Taliban commander in South Waziristan.
His forces, which are involved in fighting U.S.-led forces across the border in Afghanistan, forced Uzbek militants out of Wana in 2007 and 2008.
