Pakistan To Send Security Team To India Before Cricket Tournament

Pakistan says it will send a delegation to India next week to assess security before allowing its national team to compete in the cricket World Twenty20 tournament.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on March 5 that the three-member delegation will leave for India on March 7 to examine hotels, road routes, and cricket grounds.

If the report is positive, Khan said, the Pakistani cricket squad will go to India next week.

The move comes after the chief minister in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh said they could not provide security for Pakistan’s team, and that its match against India on March 19 should be moved to another state.

Pakistan and India have not played a bilateral series for more than three years amid diplomatic tensions.
