Reports from northwestern Pakistan say dozens of militants attacked a security checkpoint early today, triggering clashes that killed 15 people.
Local officials said the violence lasted an hour in Akakhel Bara area, in Khyber tribal district.
Ten militants, one personnel from the tribal police, and four members of a pro-government militia were reported killed in the raid, which was repulsed
when troops intervened, forcing militants to flee.
Khyber Agency is one of the tribal districts along Afghan border where the Taliban and Al-Qaeda have hideouts.
