NOVEMBER 3, 2012 -- A Proton-M rocket blasts off from the Russian-leased Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan before successfully placing two communications satellites in orbit. A previous launch of a Proton-M in August failed. Two telecommunications satellites did not reach their planned orbits due to a malfunction in the rocket's upper stage.
