BISHKEK -- About 100 protesters have rallied outside the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, protesting against a U.S.-made film denigrating the Prophet Muhammad.

The privately produced film, "Innocence of Muslims" sparked widespread protests, some of them deadly, across Muslim nations this month.

Some countries have blocked the popular video-sharing site, YouTube, because of the film.

A U.S. Embassy representative met with the protesters in Bishkek and promised to deliver an official response to their demands later.

The protesters demanded "punishment for the creators of the film."

Some 200 police were deployed near the US Embassy to secure order.
