Russia on August 2 announced the start of regular naval exercises in the Baltic Sea that involve more than 50 vessels and 30 aircraft. Some 6,000 sailors are taking part in the Ocean Shield 2023 exercise, Russia's Defense Ministry said in a statement on August 2. The exercises are taking place amid growing tensions with European countries due to the conflict in Ukraine.
