A Russian billionaire has been ordered to pay what might be the biggest divorce settlement ever.
A court in Switzerland has ordered Dmitry Rybolovlev to pay his ex-wife, Elena Rybolovleva, about $4.5 billion in cash and property.
Her lawyer Marc Bonnant called it "the most expensive divorce in history."
Rybolovlev's lawyer declined to comment but is expected to appeal.
His ex-wife had demanded $6 billion from the man known as the "fertilizer king," whose fortune from potash mining once made him the world's 79th-richest person.
A Geneva court had provisionally frozen Rybolovlev's assets in Switzerland and abroad, but it may be difficult for Rybolovleva to obtain the money because Switzerland has no legal aid treaty with Cyprus, where much of Rybolovlev's money is kept.
