Authorities in Russia's Republic of Chuvashia in the Volga region have declared October 12 to be a day of mourning to commemorate 11 victims of a deadly traffic accident.
Chuvashia's leader, Mikhail Ignatyev, expressed his condolences to relatives of the victims on October 12, calling the accident "a big tragedy for the people of Chuvashia."
Eleven passengers in a Fiat minibus were killed when their vehicle collided with a truck at about 7 a.m. local time on October 11.
Two drivers and six other passengers were injured. Police detained the truck driver and have launched an investigation into the accident.
The tragedy occurred six days after another traffic accident near the Russian city of Tver, 180 kilometers northwest of Moscow, killed 13 passengers of a Ford minibus that collided with a LiAZ bus on a highway.
