Russia's Federal Migration Service has reportedly ordered the American wife of a Russian rights activist to leave the country.
Jennifer Gaspar, who has lived in Russia for a decade, received an expulsion order in the mail on August 5, according to "The New York Times."
Gaspar's husband, Ivan Pavlov, founded the Institute for Freedom of Information Development in 2004, whose aim is to make the Russian government more transparent.
The letter, which was dated July 21, ordered Gaspar to leave Russia within two weeks of the time the letter was written.
The letter said Gaspar's residency permit, issued for one year in February, was being revoked without providing an explanation why.
Pavlov said the Russian government was trying to force him and his family to leave the country.
The couple said they will appeal the decision.
