Russia's freestyle wrestling championship has been suspended in the Siberian city of Yakutsk after a brawl between two participants.
Wrestler Ismail Musukayev representing Daghestan and Kabardino-Balkaria pushed his rival Viktor Lebedev from Yakutia after judges announced the latter's victory in a May 27 match.
The two then started brawling in a live TV broadcast before security forces and the wrestlers’ coaches intervened to calm them down.
Earlier in May, a freestyle wrestling competition in Russia's western city of Stary Oskol was marred by a mass brawl after a wrestler from Chechnya punched his winning rival. At least one man involved in the brawl had a pistol.
