A spokesman for Vladimir Putin says U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has invited the Russian prime minister to the U.S.

Dmitry Peskov says the two spoke on the phone on April 21, following up on Biden's visit to Moscow last month that was aimed at boosting economic cooperation.

Peskov said that Putin neither accepted nor rejected Biden's invitation because of complex schedule issues.

It was unclear when any visit might take place. Peskov also said Russia's much-awaited entry to the World Trade Organization was among the topics of conversation.
