Russia Arrest Over Suspected Cannibalism

In Russia, a man in the far eastern city of Vladivostok has been arrested on suspicion of cannibalism.

Officials said the suspect, 35, confessed to killing his 41-year-old friend on March 21 and eating the body with another friend.

Officials said remains of the allegedly murdered man were found in the suspect's refrigerator on March 24.

The Investigative Committee said the alleged murder occurred after the suspect drank strong alcohol.

Cannibalism is not a separate offense in the Russian Criminal Code, and the arrested man has been charged with murder.

Reports say the second man who allegedly also ate the dead man's remains may be charged with "failure to report a crime."

Police have uncovered numerous cases of cannibalism in Russia in recent years.
