Serbia's parliament has voted to fire Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic over a sexist remark he made to a female journalist in December.

Lawmakers voted on February 5 after Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic asked them to support the measure "because courtesy, moral decency, and respect" demand it.

Gasic was caught on camera saying, "I love these female journalists who kneel so easily" to a woman who had crouched to allow cameras a clear shot of the proceedings.

Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic will take on the Defense Ministry as well until parliamentary elections are held, most likely in April or May.
