Slain Kazakh Journalist's Husband Suspected In Murder


Kazakh police say the main suspect in the killing of a journalist found stabbed to death in Almaty is the woman's husband.

Almaty city police said on March 13 that the husband, an unemployed 44-year-old whose name was not disclosed, killed Ilona Ekshembeeva in her apartment in Almaty.

Police said the man has been arrested and is being held in an Almaty detention center as the investigation into the case continues.

Ekshembeeva, 40, was found dead in her home on March 12.

She had worked for the Almaty-based newspaper Liter, the Kult.kz online magazine, and at the press service of Almaty City Police Department.
