A space capsule carrying three astronauts from the International Space Station (ISS) has landed in the steppes of Kazakhstan, about 35 kilometers from the planned landing site.
Aboard the capsule were Russia's Yury Malenchenko, Japan's Akihiko Hoshide, and Sunita Williams of the U.S. who just completed a 126-day mission on the ISS.
Russian space control said that "due to a minimal delay in procedures" the capsule missed its target set-down site, but helicopters and search-and-rescue crews arrived shortly after the ship landed.
Russian cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky and Yevgeny Tarelkin and American astronaut Kevin Ford remain aboard the ISS.
They arrived there on a five-month mission in late October.
They will be joined by three more astronauts in December.
