Space shuttle "Endeavour" lands at Kennedy Space Center on June 1, ending its final mission.
The space shuttle "Endeavour" has landed safely at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, ending its final mission to space and thus becoming the next-to-last U.S. shuttle to retire.

The landing closed out a 16-day mission in which the crew put finishing touches on the International Space Station.

The last U.S. shuttle to fly, "Atlantis," is due to launch in July.
