A suicide car bomber has detonated his explosives in Afghanistan's eastern Logar Province, killing at least nine people and wounding some 20 other people.
Din Mohammad Darwish, the spokesman for the Logar governor, said the November 1 attack took place in the Azra district.
Darwish said at least six policemen and three soldiers were killed by the explosion, which also damaged three nearby houses and destroyed a mosque.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, a Taliban attempt to attack the Bagram military base went awry when a rocket fired at the base late October 31 hit an adjacent prison where captured Taliban fighters are held.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said, "Our target was the base, not the prison" and blamed U.S. forces for building the prison next to the base.
