Three Killed During Tajikistan 'Night Races'

In the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, three people were killed and three injured following a crash during nighttime car races that often include the children of the country's elite.

Sources in Dushanbe's traffic police told RFE/RL late on October 9 that the children of "very important people," who often race expensive cars at night in downtown Dushanbe, caused a deadly traffic incident during the previous night.

Tajik media reports said that a nephew of the chief of the Tajik state railway company -- 21-year-old Asror Hukumov -- is currently under investigation in connection with the crash.

Hukumov is a relative of President Emomali Rahmon.
